Painting is relaxing and is Robin’s way to get with God and His creation. He wants to soak it in, understand it as well as possible, and then capture the special beauty of life as light and shadow splash across the scene. He loves being outside and interacting with others and truly enjoys Plein air painting. Nature never fails to reward and challenge him as an artist with its constantly changing colors, light, and atmosphere. Additionally, he enjoys working in his studio in Ashland, OH, when he can not get outside. Robin graduated from Ashland (College) University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication after spending one-year of intensive study at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After years of work at agencies and as the head of graphics at Rubbermaid in Wooster, OH, Robin opened Red Red Design, a graphic design studio in Ashland, Ohio, in 2001.

About Robin Roberts | Artist’s Statement
I have a passion for painting and a calling from God to pursue my passion.
Capturing the Beauty of God’s Creation
Painting is relaxing and is my way to get with God and His creation. I want to soak it in, understand it as well as possible, and then capture the special beauty of life as light and shadow splash across the scene. Moreover, I love being outside and interacting with others, and I really enjoy Plein air painting. Nature never fails to reward and challenge me as an artist with its constantly changing colors, light, and atmosphere. In addition, I enjoy working in my studio in Ashland, Ohio, when I cannot get outside.
Award-winning Ohio artist Robin Roberts graduated from Ashland (College) University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication. Before that, he spent one year of intensive study at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Robin spent years working at agencies and as the head of graphics at Rubbermaid in Wooster, Ohio. In 2001, Robin opened Red Red Design, a graphic design studio in Ashland, Ohio.
Plein Air Painter
Robin’s passion as an artist shows through in his work. The majority of his paintings are done en Plein air. En Plein Air, or Plein air painting, is the act of painting outdoors. This method contrasts with studio painting or academic rules that might create a predetermined look. The term comes from the manner of a 19th-century style of painting outdoors, or with a strong sense of the open air, that became a central feature of French impressionism. Robin Robert’s work embodies this style of painting.
