Our Personal Art Journey
As the proud owners of The Welsh Hills Inn, our Local Artisan Shoppe turned out to be a natural extension of more than three decades of collecting original art. Collecting original art, particularly Ohio art, is our passion. However, some might call it an addiction. We like to refer to it as a “well-controlled fervor.” Nevertheless, we attribute our love of original art to our dear friend and avid art collector, Sharon Weiss. Sharon is the owner of the Sharon Weiss Gallery, 12 Lincoln Street, and Found in Columbus’ nationally-recognized Short North Arts District. Moreover, she introduced us to our journey into the world of art collecting. She inspired us, gave us that little “push” we needed to dive into collecting headfirst. And, we have never looked back a single time. We firmly believe that art unites us all.
Besides being our lifelong home, Ohio boasts a rich history in the world of art. We are blessed to have our collection span the course of the past 125-years of Ohio’s history. It includes pieces from some of Ohio’s most renowned and celebrated artists. In addition, it represents painters and sculptors spanning from the late 1800s through the 1900s. Our collection is eclectic in nature. We purchase pieces we love and not for the name. We’re proud we’ve been able to find a distinguished group of today’s up-and-coming and well-established artists. They are prolific and generate some wonderful and creative works across all media types. It has been exciting to watch their journeys over the course of more than three decades.
