Christmas has always held a special place in the hearts of Innkeeper, Jeff, and Bobbi. Creatively displaying and sharing their Christmas treasures with guests is something they enjoy each holiday season. From splendid, special decorations to the celebration of festive traditions, this is a wonderful time of the year to plan a visit to the Inn with family and friends and experience the magic of Christmas in Granville, Ohio.
Jeff and Bobbi began collecting Christmas keepsakes together when they first married and the tradition has continued for more than 30 years. Beginning just after Thanksgiving through mid-January, the Inn and guest rooms are beautifully decorated throughout. Unique Christmas trees are located throughout The Inn. Each has a different theme and displays hand-blown glass ornaments and sparkling trinkets of every shape and size. Some date back over 50 years. The Inn’s amazing Jolly Old St. Nick Santa collection is a sight to be seen. It includes Santa figures from a variety of nationalities and spans more than 80 years. A beautiful display of Byers Carolers is set up in a small winter village with a Christmas train each year on the veranda of the Inn. The twinkling lights which decorate the Inn bring holiday magic of their own.
The Village of Granville is proud to share its Christmas spirit with you each year as well. Lighted, holiday trees line the streets from Thanksgiving through the New Year. Many businesses decorate their shop windows with gorgeous scenes of the season.
On the first Saturday of December each year, Granville hosts a Christmas Candlelight Walking Tour. This event displays over 1500 luminaries along the sidewalks of the village and was started in 1985 to celebrate and share the joy and magic of Christmas throughout the community. The churches and unique shops open their doors and invite folks in to listen to the choirs and festive music performances, drink hot chocolate, eat sweet treats, and begin their holiday shopping. There is a European-style Christmas Market, horse-drawn carriage rides, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and much more. The tradition, organized by the Granville Area Chamber of Commerce, has continued to grow and flourish over these many years. People of all ages look forward to what’s in store during this annual event when the Magic of the Christmas Holiday is brought to life in the Village of Granville.
